FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
QUESTIONS
ANSWERS
Why choose one of our tours?
For the individual sat at home simply arranging flights, accommodation and ground transport can be difficult enough, but once you’ve done it how can you be sure you have chosen the right itinerary or know the top sites for each of your target species. You may well of saved money, but a trip that ends with several of your target birds missing is not value for money. With our experience and expert contacts we can take all the trouble out of the process for you, and ensure you have the best chances to connect with your target species.
What sets us apart from other tour operators?
We use (wherever possible) local airports in the Midlands, something rarely done by other operators, who often only fly from London. For many of our customers who live in the Midlands or in the North, this would not only mean a long journey at start and finish of their holiday but may necessitate staying the night in a London hotel if flight times are very early or late.
What are your group sizes?
The group sizes are kept small on all our tours, this is to ensure a friendly personal level is maintained at all times.
Where do you stay?
We always carefully choose good quality accommodation that meets our necessary standards. However as we often stay in more rural areas, close to the best birding sites these may only be small hotels or guesthouses, but will always be clean, comfortable and usually have private facilities.
At what pace are your tours set at?
When planning your holiday nothing is rushed, as we need to ensure everything is done correctly, and we believe this policy should be extended to the tours themselves. We do not race from one destination to another trying to accumulate huge lists, spending a lot of time in the minibus as a result. Instead we spend longer at each location giving us time to get good views and lasting memories, as well as allowing those interested in photography the chance to do so.
How physically demanding are your tours?
All our tours involve walking to some degree, however unless otherwise stated in the tour details, will always be of an easy nature, not more than a few miles in length. These walks will not be rushed and time is allowed for completion at a steady walking pace. All early morning excursions are optional, allowing those who enjoy watching birds but not necessarily rising with them, the chance to stay in bed and join the group after breakfast.
Why are your prices so low when compared with many other operators?
This is because we don’t produce a large glossy brochure, constantly advertise in expensive magazines or have an expensive office to maintain. We produce much of our literature ourselves and we only advertise in selected local club newsletters etc. thus saving us money, which we then pass on to you.
What literature do we receive?
Prior to departure you will receive an information pack with details of flight times, climate and recommended clothing etc. as well as a checklist to help keep track of the days sightings. Following the tour a full trip report will be produced by the leaders and a copy sent out to each member of the group
