THE SCILLIES October 2009
Join us on this week long tour of the magical Islands known as the Scillies, here we'll search for the many scarce and rare migrants that turn up annually at this time of year. Our base for this holiday will be on St Mary's, the largest of the Scillies, and the best placed for visiting its neighbours Tresco, Bryher, St Agnes and St Martins. The bird list here is long and almost anything could be found, scarce birds such as Wryneck, Firecrest, Yellow-browed, Barred, Melodious and Icterine Warblers, Richard's and Tawny Pipits, Short-toed Lark, Red-breasted Flycatcher, Rose-coloured Starling, Red-backed Shrike, Common Rosefinch, and Lapland Buntings are seen most years. We should also see a few real rarities, with the likes of Cream-coloured Courser, Upland Sandpiper, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Blackpoll Warbler, American Robin, Red-eyed Vireo and Rose-breasted Grosbeak all featuring in recent years.
To comply with Civil Aviation Authority
guidelines all flights are ATOL protected,
